With this album, Goran Bregović combines the core of his creativity with his previous musical journey – it has always been classic, wild, unique, eclectic and unexpected…

For over 50 years, Goran Bregović has been internationally recognized as the most influential composer, musician, lyricist, arranger and producer who managed to put Balkan music on the world music map.

Goran created three lyrical stories based on Christian, Jewish and Muslim liturgies. The musical stories on the album The Belly Button Of The World are performed by soloists Mirjana Nesković (Serbia), Gershon Leiserson (Israel) and Zied Zouari (Tunisia).

Since he was unable to go on tour during the pandemic, Goran took the opportunity to record an album of five pieces, written for three solo violins, a symphony orchestra, a sextet of male voices and, of course, his Weddings and Funerals band.

All songs were written, composed, arranged and produced by Goran Bregović. All songs will be published for the regional market by Aquarius Music Publishing / Classic Records, and for the rest of the world by Universal Music Publishing Paris / Decca Records. Songs are recorded and mixed in Kamarad studio Belgrade – Serbia in 2022. Mastered in Tony Cousins Metropolis studio – London. Composition, arrangements, lyrics, vocals, guitars, drums, production by Goran Bregović. The violin for Muslim Tale was recorded at White Bench Studio Tunis by Ayed Ghanem.
