Agnes Obel , a Danish singer, songwriter and pianist with the Berlin address, is a talented new name of Aquarius Music Publishing catalogue. Classically trained Agnes is inspired from the works of the Swedish pianist Jan Johansson, and also PJ Harvey, Claude Debussy, and she is compared with Eva Cassidy and Joni Mitchell.
Five years ago she released the debut album ‘Philharmonics’ (2010), clean, incredibly cohesive, balanced album, a mix of instrumentals and atmospheric, melancholy ballads which brought her double platinum sales in Denmark.
In 2013 Obel released her second album ‘Aventine’, which remains consistent to mastery she showed in the previous album. Her lyrics are like impressionist paintings, and so are music videos – each different and unique than the last. If we wanted to draw a parallel with the seasons, ‘Aventine’ is a real autumn album.
